Fortnite end of season event release date, Eminem crossover, Big Bang gameplay
Fortnite developer Epic Games has officially announced plans to hold an end of season event. The short-lived OG Fortnite season comes to an end with a big in-game event on December 2. Described as a “new beginning” for the game, Fortnite’s Big Bang event takes place at 7pm GMT on the evening of Saturday, December 2. Needless to say, fans are encouraged to jump into the action 30 minutes before the event goes live.
Epic Games explains more: “Jump into The Big Bang — Fortnite’s next live event — on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 7pm GMT! This event marks a new beginning for Fortnite.
“The experience will be available in the Battle Royale tile in Discover 30 minutes prior, so you can jump in before the event starts to gear up with any of your cosmetics.”
According to Epic Games, the Big Bang event will support teams of up to four-players, and will also be playable over the cloud.
“Won’t be near a dedicated gaming device during the event? The Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna services let you play Fortnite via cloud streaming on your computer or mobile device!’
In the build up to the event, Epic Games plans to disable in-game experiences available via Creative. The experiences will be taken offline at 5pm GMT UK time.
User-made experiences, on the other hand, will remain online until server downtime kicks off for the new season.
Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 4.30am GMT on the morning of December 3. Downtime is expected to last longer than usual.
In terms of end of season gameplay, Fortnite insider Hypex claims it will feature Eminem, a LEGO crossover, Rhythm Mode and Racing Mode.
It’s also the biggest end of season event to date, weighing in at around 1.5GB.
