PS5 Pro release date still possible but 2020 console and price seems unlikely

With the current situation concerning the Coronavirus impacting the world’s production and distribution chains, there are fears that the planned next-gen launches for 2020 will be pushed back. So far, Sony and Microsoft say they are sticking to their guns and won’t be changing their plans. The comments were revealed in a post by LetsGoDigital via a PR agency in the Netherlands that represents SIE Benelux.

In a report online LetsGoDigital said: “BAAS, the Amsterdam PR agency for Sony Interactive Entertainment Benelux, has informed LetsGoDigital that the coronavirus has not yet delayed the launch of the PlayStation 5 for the time being.”

The caveat to all of this is that the coronavirus is an ongoing and ever-changing situation, and the coronavirus could still yet cause issues that lead to the PS5 release date being delayed.

For now, the PS5 release date is set for 2020 and that’s good news for gamers wanting to upgrade from the PS4.

But the chances that a PS5 Pro will arrive alongside the base PlayStation 5 console now seems less likely.

Recent reports indicated that Sony was exploring the option of launching two versions of the PS5.

The PS5 Pro would be more powerful and more expensive, while the base PS5 would offer the specs we just found out about.

The normal PS5 price would be seen as more affordable and would launch alongside the Pro version.

But even if Sony were exploring such an idea, it would make sense that they would now be focusing on the base PS5.

There will be plenty of effort going into sourcing parts but it seems more likely that Sony will face a harder battle to get everything they need.

It seems pretty likely that we will see a PS5 Pro console arrive in the coming years, unless the tech giant has a sudden change of heart.

There’s always the question of how big streaming will get and that means Sony having the option of expanding its PlayStation Now service.

But we would still bet that the popularity of the PS4 Pro has created plenty of incentive for the company to start planning for such a console.

This all remains a prediction for now and there is one factor that could still change everything in the coming months.

Sony has yet to reveal the price of the PS5 and that provides a window for such a thing as the PS5 Pro to be unveiled.

Until we know exactly how much the PlayStation 5 will cost, we can’t rule out a surprise reveal.

Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad commented last month on whether the coronavirus could delay the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Ahmad was responding to a follower on Twitter who asked whether there could be next-gen console delays.

The analyst said: “Not right now + too early to say for sure.

“If we’re at a point where production is not at full capacity by the end of Q2 then that will definitely be a reason for MS/Sony to reconsider holiday launches of next gen consoles.”

Ahmad also added: “With more people staying home + offline events cancelled + new game releases, we should see an increase in engagement and spend across video games as it becomes a key way for people to stay entertained at home.”

PS Plus April 2020 vs Games with Gold: PS4 free games smash Xbox One… AGAIN

The PS Plus and Games with Gold free game releases are finally here for PS4 and Xbox One.

The April 2020 free PS4 games will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers from midday on April 7.

And PS Plus members are in for a treat in April, because the new games include Uncharted 4 and Dirt Rally 2.0.

The new PlayStation Plus games will replace the existing line-up of Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces.

The first wave of Xbox Games with Gold releases are already available, as Project Cars 2 joins Xbox One, and Fable Anniversary comes to Xbox 360.

Games with Gold subscribers will be able to download two more titles on April 16, when the Knights of Pen and Paper Bundle comes to Xbox One, and Toybox Turbos joins Xbox 360.

Now that the April 2020 free games have been announced and are ready to go, now seems like a good time to pit Xbox Games with Gold against PS Plus in a battle to death.

And spoiler alert, it’s already looking like another victory for Sony PlayStation Plus.

The PS Plus highlight is obviously Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which has a Metacritic score of 93%.

“Thrown back into the dangerous underworld he’d tried to leave behind, Nathan Drake must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves,” reads the official description.

“Join Drake, Sam, Elena and Sully on an epic adventure around the globe, through jungle isles, bustling cities and snow-capped peaks in search of a lost fortune.”

Dirt Rally 2.0 fares almost as well, scoring an impressive 84% on Metacritic.

“DiRT Rally 2.0 dares you to carve your way through a selection of iconic rally locations from across the globe, in the most powerful off-road vehicles ever made, knowing that the smallest mistake could end your stage,” reads the official description.

The Xbox Games with Gold releases aren’t quite as impressive, although it’s not a complete disaster.

Project Cars 2, for example, has a Metacritic score of 84%, which is the same as Dirt Rally 2.0.

“Over 180 elite vehicles are available for your choosing to compete on a variety of track surfaces including ice, dirt, and mud,” reads the Project Cars 2 description.

“Featuring dynamic weather physics on 140 tracks, true-to-life handling, and multiple game modes, the ultimate driver journey begins at the wave of the checkered flag.”

Containing the original game and its sequel, Knights of Pen and Paper Bundle is a little harder to judge.

“In this collection of the award-winning game and its sequel, inhabit a world of chivalry, class warfare, and semi-appropriate cultural references — while complaining loudly to the Game Master,” reads a Microsoft description. “It’s all the fun of pen and paper RPGs and none of the lost dice!”

On the one hand, the iOS version of the original game has a Metacritic score of 83%, while the PC sequel has a score of 67%.

However you choose to judge the Knights of Pen and Paper Bundle, it’s clear that it’s not up to the same standard as Uncharted 4.

Indeed, it would have to be a pretty special month for anything to beat Uncharted 4, which is one of the highest rated games ever on PlayStation Plus.

Dirt Rally 2.0 and Project Cars 2 are both excellent racing games, and Xbox One owners do have the advantage of being able to play Xbox 360 games via backwards compatibility.

So there you have it. In the battle between Xbox Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus, both services have stepped up their game for April 2020.

While there can only be one winner – which is PS Plus – it’s a good month for fans of both consoles.

Nintendo Switch fans dealt good and bad news about 2020 games release list

Nintendo Switch games fans hoping for some big releases in 2020 have been dealt some good and bad news. There is plenty of mystery surrounding the Nintendo Switch games line-up for the year with large blanks in the second half of 2020. Rumours have been sparked that some of these release gaps could be filled with remasters of classic Super Mario titles.

Which would undoubtedly be a huge hit with Nintendo Switch gamers but there are still plenty of question marks surrounding other upcoming games.

One of the titles that Switch fans may have been hoping would get a release in 2020 is Bayonetta 3.

The latest entry in Platinum Games’ hit series was announced back in 2017 during the Switch’s first year on sale.

But since then we haven’t really heard a peep about Bayonetta 3, nor have we seen any in-game screenshots or footage of the game running.

  • Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 could be followed by these big releases

It had been hoped that Platinum Games were going to drop details on the new Bayonetta game soon.

The Osaka-based firm this year have been posting announcements on their Platinum 4 website, including news on a Wonderful 101 Switch port.

It had been thought that the final announcement for the Platinum 4 website would be news on Bayonetta 3.

However, the bad news for Switch fans is that this fourth announcement ended up being an April Fool’s gag – with the reveal of a fake arcade machine.

While this will come as a blow to Nintendo Switch gamers hoping for Bayonetta 3 news there is a silver lining.

Platinum Games has announced that there is one more ‘bonus stage’ reveal coming soon.

  • Nintendo Direct Mini for March 2020 raises questions for Switch fans

The @PlatinumGames Twitter posted: “The #Platinum4 isn’t over! Bonus Stage coming soon”.

It remains to be seen when this announcement does drop, but Bayonetta fans will surely be hoping news on the third game could be coming soon.

If the bonus Platinum Games announcement isn’t about Bayonetta 3 then we may have to wait till the next Nintendo Direct.

It’s unclear when the next Direct could be, whether there will be one in April or if the next one will be the typical June broadcast.

That Direct airs around the time of E3, but even though the expo has been cancelled doesn’t mean there won’t be a June Direct.

Nintendo could use that Direct to announce more about their Q3 and Q4 release schedule for the Switch.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding what could be the major Switch releases for the latter half of 2020.

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 was initially pegged for a holiday 2020 release but now it is thought it will be coming out in 2021.

A new Mario Kart, Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime 4 or a new Paper Mario are rumoured contenders for Switch holiday releases.

While Mario is celebrating the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros first hitting the Famicom (the Japanese NES) this September.

Which could be when we see the rumoured Mario remasters launch.

It is believed remasters of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are coming to the Switch this year.

Fortnite Deadpool week 7 challenges: Phone booth, portapotty map locations

Fortnite enter a phone booth or portapotty to become the super-est of superheroes is one of the week 7 Deadpool challenges. The Fortnite Deadpool week 7 challenges are unlocking this week, and with it the secret Deadpool skin will at last become available. Leaks have revealed Fortnite fans who have completed Deadpool challenges on a weekly basis will need to finish one of the week 7 tasks to get the skin.

One of the upcoming Fortnite Deadpool challenges tasks players with finding a Fortnite phone booth or portapotty and entering it.

And, seeing as the Fortnite Deadpool week 7 challenges leaked early, it gave fans plenty of time to figure out solutions.

One of those was YouTuber gattu who in a post online revealed how to solve the Fortnite Deadpool week 7 challenges.

Gattu explained that there is an easy way to complete the challenge in a step-by-step guide.

First off Fortnite players need to land near The Grotto which is on the east side of the Battle Royale map just north of Retail Row.

From there Fortnite players should be able to spot a dumpster next to a big metal communication tower.

This, in fact, is a secret passage which leads to an underground tunnel with a phone booth.

Simply head into the phone booth to change into a henchman disguise.

If you want to then head to a portapotty then jump back into the trash can you came out of and then jump into the big, circular vent in the ground.

This will send you flying up into the air, and while airborne you should be able to spot a nearby lake.

Jump into a boat there and simply head northbound where after not too long you will be able to land on a grassy area near the water’s edge.

Near some trees, which is not too far from the green bridge, you will find a portapotty.

If you’re still struggling then you can find in this article a map showing the exact location of the portapotty which gattu highlighted.

This portapotty is west of Dirty Docks and south east of Frenzy Farm.

While the Fortnite Deadpool skin is unlocking this week, that won’t be it for the Fortnite Deadpool challenges.

Leaks have revealed there will also be Fortnite Deadpool week 8 challenges.

The reward for completing one of these challenges next week is a new style for the Deadpool skin which shows Wade Wilson unmasked.

In case you’re wondering, then here are the leaked week 7 and week 8 challenges for the Fortnite Deadpool skin…

• Find Deadpool’s 2 pistols

• Enter a Phone Booth or Portapotty to become the Super-est of Superheroes

• Find Deadpool’s pool floaty

• Dance at Deadpool’s Yacht Party

Xbox One games UPDATE: Microsoft has good news and bad news for fans

Xbox One fans have been treated to some good news and bad news this week, as Microsoft posts two new game updates.

The good news is that multiplayer pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves is coming to Steam.

“Anchor up, sails down and full @Steam ahead!” reads the official Microsoft announcement. “While we don’t have a date to share just yet, we’re thrilled to announce that Sea of Thieves is coming to Steam soon!

“You can wishlist it now so that you’re ready to add it to your hoard as soon as possible.”

There’s no word on the price or release date, but the fact that it’s already listed on Steam suggests that the launch isn’t far away.

Of course, it’s not all good news for Xbox One gaming fans, as Microsoft’s Phil Spencer gives an update on a previously cancelled game.

Sadly, despite recent rumours to the contrary, Platinum’s Scalebound has not been resurrected.

Indeed, according to Spencer, Microsoft has completely moved past the game.

“We’re not working on it,” Spencer told the Unlocked podcast. “I’m not at Platinum today, but I’m almost positive they’re not working on it. It’s something we all moved past.

“It’s not a moment that I see as a high point for me in my role, having to cancel a game that we had talked about for years.

“But yeah, for the people out there who are kind of thinking that maybe there’s something still in the works, there’s not.”

Before it was cancelled, Scalebound was shaping up to be one of the more interesting Xbox One exclusives.

As for Sea of Thieves, the shared world adventure game has become one of the most popular releases on Xbox One.

“Sea of Thieves offers the essential pirate experience, packed to the seams with sailing and exploring, fighting and plundering, riddle-solving and treasure-hunting – everything you need to live the pirate life you’ve always dreamed about,” Microsoft explains.

“With no set roles, you have complete freedom to approach the world, and other players, however you choose.

“This shared-world experience allows you to play solo or form a crew, meeting other players on the seas and choosing to be friends or foes.

“Will you form a grand alliance, or plunder treasure from the unwary? Play your own way and create a legend to be remembered.”

If you can’t wait for the Steam version, you can grab the Xbox One Anniversary Edition for £34.99 from the Xbox Store.

Fortnite Shark, Rapid’s Rest, Gorgeous Gorge map locations for Week 7 Skye’s challenges

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released the Skye’s Adventure challenges for Week 7.

Challenges have been given a big overhaul in Season 2. Tasks now revolve around different Agent characters introduced as part of the latest Battle Pass.

For example, the first two weeks of challenges revolved around special agent Brutus. TNTina took centre stage during Week 3 and Week 4, followed by Meowscles in Week 5 and Week 6.

Titled Skye’s Adventure, the latest wave of challenges reward players with either the Ghost or Shadow variation of the Skye skin.

To unlock either the Ghost or Shadow version of Skye, players must complete the Week 7 and Week 8 challenges to unlock the Classified Ghost and Shadow missions for the character.

Once you’ve picked a side and completed the associated mission, you’ll unlock that style for Skye. Players can only pick one style, so you’d better choose wisely.

Before you even come close to unlocking the Ghost and Shadow skins for Skye, you’ll need to Search chests at Spy Bases, deal damage with SMGs or pistols, and escape a secret passage.

One of the more interesting challenges tasks players with visiting The Shark, Rapid’s Rest, and Gorgeous Gorge.

Fortunately, this challenge is pretty straightforward if you know where to look.

As you can see from the map above, The Shark is all the way in the north-west part of the map, on its own little island.

Rapid’s Rest and Gorgeous Gorge are much closer together, which means you should easily be able to complete the challenge in a single game.

The Rapid’s Rest POI is east of Lazy Lake, at the bend in the river. Gorgeous Gorge, meanwhile, is north-east of Lazy Lake, also by the river.

You can check out the remaining Skye’s Adventure Week 7 challenges below…

Fortnite Week 7 Skye’s Adventure Challenges in full…

• Search Chests at Spy Bases (7)

• Deal damage to players with SMGs or Pistols (400)

• Mark an Uncommon, Rare, and Epic item (1)

• Collect 75 of each material within 60 seconds after landing from the Battle Bus (3)

• Hide in a Creepin’ Cardboard at the Box Factory (1)

• Consume Foraged Items at Weeping Woods or The Orchard (10)

• Visit The Shark, Rapid’s Rest, and Gorgeous Gorge (1)

• Escape a Vault a Secret Passage (1)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered: When does MW2 come out on Xbox One and PC?

Activision kept its latest project under wraps for some time but it was revealed this week that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered would be available to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2020. The downside is that the latest COD game is only available to play on PS4 at the moment, but this will soon change. So how long will gamers on Xbox One and PC have to wait until they can play MW2 Remastered?

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is currently available on PS4 and is coming to Xbox to PC later this month.

Since launching MW2 this week, Activision has confirmed that the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered release date has been set for April 30, 2020.

And the expected launch time for MW2 Remastered on the remaining platforms is 10am PT.

A message from Activision confirms: “Relive the epic single-player Campaign from the 2009 blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, remastered in true high-definition.

“Experience classic missions including Cliffhanger, The Gulag, and Whiskey Hotel as you join Soap, Price, Ghost and the rest of Task Force 141 in the globe-spanning fight to restore order to the world.

  • Xbox Series X controller is missing one crucial DualShock feature

“Available now on PS4. Launching April 30 on other platforms. Buy or Pre-Purchase now and immediately get the UDT Classic Ghost Bundle for use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone.”

The pre-order is now available on Xbox One and Battle Net, and includes its own bonuses for Warzone.

But while fans can look forward to enjoying the single-player experience, there’s no chance of multiplayer support in the future.

A message from the development team explains: “Beginning with Modern Warfare last year, the focus has been to bring players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground.

“With cross-play, releasing new post-launch maps, modes, weapons and more content drops for free, and launching Warzone, the Free-to-Play, Free-for-Everyone new Call of Duty experience, the Modern Warfare universe will expand, bringing new experiences to players.

“We’ve played iconic Modern Warfare series maps of past returning in the new Modern Warfare, including classic maps like Rust, Shipment, Crash and Vacant.

“Plus, in Warzone we’ve also experienced classic Modern Warfare series locations like Gulag and Boneyard in new ways.

“Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time.”

So while multiplayer support won’t be coming to MW2 Remastered in the future, Season 3 of Modern Warfare is likely to include maps from MW2.
