Super Smash Bros. fan launches Smashersoap – Daily Esports

A fan of the Super Smash Bros. series has created a Smash-inspired line of soap products. Smashersoap, which was announced through a Twitter video on March 17, officially launched on April 1. The announcement video notes that “this is not a joke,” despite the April Fools’ Day launch.

The idea for Smashersoap arose out of the common perception that members of the Smash community smell bad. Created by a college student from Iowa, this soap brand is made from goat milk. The brand’s website notes that “the soaps will always stay with natural ingredients.” As a result, the website states it will “keep you cool and focused for your next fight.”

In keeping with its Super Smash Bros. theme, every type of soap is loosely based on a Smash Bros. character. The first wave of soaps includes four different soap types. These soaps are satirized versions of Donkey Kong, Falco, Marth, and Jigglypuff. While every bar of soap is the same shape, the color scheme of each is based on its respective character.

While only four types of Smashersoap are currently available, the creator plans to launch many more in the future. Every month, a new set of four soaps will become available for purchase. Eventually, the creator plans to make soaps parodying every single Super Smash Bros. fighter.

More about Smashersoap

For every bar of soap a player purchases, they will also receive a promotional sticker and a clothespin. The clothespin, dubbed a “nose parry adapter,” jokingly represents a nose plug. It is purportedly supposed to be used when facing an opponent who does not use Smashersoap. In addition to these, the first 100 orders will receive a limited edition holographic sticker.

To coincide with the launch of this new soap brand, the creator has also made a video game called #SoapBros. It is a free-to-play platform fighter, with gameplay unsurprisingly inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series. As new types of soaps become available, they will all have parallel playable characters in #SoapBros.

Super Smash Bros. enthusiasts can purchase their own Smash-inspired bar of soap at the online Smashersoap shop. Currently, products are available at a base price of $7.99, and shipping is restricted to the United States.

The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter Is From Arms

Nintendo dropped a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini this week, although there was certainly nothing “mini” about it, as the presentation ran for nearly 30 minutes and revealed a ton of new details on games coming to Switch in the next few months. Among other things, we got our first info on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next DLC fighter.

The next character coming to the mascot fighter is from Arms, Nintendo’s colorful 2017 fighting game. Nintendo didn’t yet reveal the identity of the fighter, but this will be the first DLC character to arrive as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which covers six additional characters and costs $30 USD.

Just as in Arms, the next DLC fighter will have extendable arms, although Nintendo joked that it would have to “extend” its development time because of this. The fighter is slated to be announced and released sometime this June, although Nintendo noted at the start of the presentation that release dates could be affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. You can watch the Nintendo Direct segment above.

Following the reveal, Nintendo announced that it is offering a free trial of Arms for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The free trial kicks off today, March 26, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET and runs through April 6. During that time, Switch Online members will be able to sample the full game at no charge.

There were a ton of other announcements during the Nintendo Direct Mini. We learned that BioShock, Borderlands, and XCOM are all coming to Switch. Nintendo also detailed Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ first seasonal event, which sees Zipper T. Bunny arrive and hide eggs all around your island.

Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Character Comes From Arms

Back in January, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai announced a second Fighters Pass, which will bring six more downloadable fighters to the biggest crossover battlefield in gaming. While we still don’t know the details of who the first character of Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will be, we do know that the character will hail from Arms, the 2017 fighting game from Nintendo.

Arms features 15 characters, each of which has a distinct style and arsenal of moves. While it would make sense for Spring Man or Ribbon Girl to appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate thanks to their mascot statuses for the game, Twintelle garnered quite the fan base when the title launched. Also working against the idea of Spring Man as a playable character is the fact that he’s currently an Assist Trophy.

Whichever character the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate development team chose from the Arms roster will be both announced and released in June. For more on Arms, check out our review.

Super Smash Bros. event Full Bloom 6 has been canceled

Full Bloom is a staple tournament of the Super Smash Bros. competitive scene, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, organizer Austin “Horde” Fletcher and the event staff have decided to cancel Full Bloom Six.

Japanese Super Smash Bros. website lists Fighter's Pass Vol. 2 physical release date as March 23

Just like with all of the previous Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC content, Fighters Pass Vol. Two has been the topic of conversation for most of the Smash community since it was announced earlier this year.

But thanks to the Japanese Super Smash Bros. website, we now have one more hint to when the next fighter could be revealed.

Fighters Pass Vol. Two is already available for digital pre-purchase now on the Nintendo Switch eShop, which will net players all six of the new DLC characters and a Mii Fighter costume themed after the ancient technology in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, the physical cards have not been made available for purchase in stores yet.

According to the Japanese website, Nintendo is distributing the physical download cards to stores in Japan now and they will be made available March 23. It is currently unclear if this applies to all regions, but if it does, there might be something big happening around that day.
