Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare: Still No Fix For Missing Tier Skips And Ghost Bundle

Developer Infinity Ward has fixed some of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone’s issues, but not all of them. The studio has confirmed that there is currently no fix for the problems related to the free tier skip promotion and redeeming the UDT Ghost bundle on Xbox One.

Senior communications manager Ashton Williams said on Twitter that Infinity Ward continues to work on a fix for the two problems, but there is no word yet on when it will come.

“Sorry this is taking so long, but we’ll post an update as soon as we have one,” Williams said in regards to the free tier skip promotion.

The free tier skip promotion, which launched last week, gives everyone who bought the Season 2 Battle Pass 10 free tier skips to help rise through the ranks before the season ends. Missing out the tier skips is unfortunate, and the same can be said for the UDT bundle. This comes with a number of Ghost-themed cosmetics for use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.

In other news, Infinity Ward recently extended the double XP period for Modern Warfare and Warzone to make up for other progression issues that popped up over the weekend. Season 3 of the multiplayer game starts on April 8. You can read more about the Call of Duty franchise through the news links below.

Lord Of The Rings Visual Effects Reels Have Vanished From YouTube

[Update: For some reason, Weta has set the videos to private, so they can no longer be viewed.]

To bring Middle-earth to life for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the filmmakers turned to New Zealand visual effects company Weta Digital, which at the time was only getting started. The Weta effects team delivered in a big way, as the extensive VFX shots in the films were well received by critics and fans alike. Each of the three movies won the Best Visual Effects Oscar, and they continue to look great by today’s standards.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Weta has now released the VFX reels for each of the movies to the company’s YouTube page in all of their 480p glory (via Gizmodo). Watching the videos is a delightful stroll down memory lane. The videos are set to Howard Shore’s epic music, and it’s impressive to see all the shots lined up in a montage in this manner. Not that anyone ever doubted it, but it’s clearer than ever from these videos that Weta undertook a mammoth task in creating visual effects for the films.

You can check out each of the videos below, which show off epic creatures like the Balrog, Ents, and cave trolls. The effects work also of course included bringing Andy Serkis to life as Gollum in one of the more memorable CG character roles we can remember.

While modern movies might have better-looking visual effects shots, the work Weta did for The Lord of the Rings still holds up well in 2020. And if these videos renew your interest in The Lord of the Rings, there has never been a better time to stay home and marathon the trilogy.

As for Weta, it was founded in 1993 by Jackson, Richard Taylor, and Jamie Selkirk and initially worked on Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures. The company also did effects work for the sci-fi movie Contact in 1997, before working on The Lord of the Rings. In addition to its Oscar wins for The Lord of the Rings, Weta has won Academy Awards for its work on Avatar, King Kong, and The Jungle Book. The company also also worked on The Avengers, Game of Thrones, and countless other massive projects.

The Weta Digital YouTube page is also currently hosting VFX reels for Deadpool 2, Avengers: Endgame, and more.

Not everyone was so pleased with the Lord of the Rings movie’s reliance on CG. Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn, said he enjoyed the “organic” nature of Fellowship with its limited CG sequences, but he lamented the extended use of visual effects in the sequels.

“The second movie already started ballooning, for my taste, and then by the third one, there were a lot of special effects,” he told The Telegraph in 2014. “It was grandiose, and all that, but whatever was subtle, in the first movie, gradually got lost in the second and third.”

Latest Issue Of PlayStation Official Magazine UK Reveals More Details About PS5’s Godfall

As Sony’s next generation console slowly approaches its release date, so do the initial titles like Godfall. Although not a whole lot is known about the game, bits and pieces of information have been shared over the past few months, essentially giving fans an idea of what the game is about and what type of game it actually is.

The latest information about Godfall comes from the most recent issue of the PlayStation Official Magazine UK (issue 174 to be exact). In it, the magazine talks more about the game’s gameplay aspects, style, story, combat, and a lot more. For people who were able to get their hands on the issue, they shared the information on ResetEra.

According to the obtained information, Godfall will have gameplay features that are very similar to Monster Hunter and Dark Souls. Specifically, Godfall will have gameplay similar to Monster Hunter World, while its combat elements will reflect those of Dark Souls games. As such, players who happen to be fans of either one of the games, or both, will be able to draw certain points and conclusions from the obtained information and apply them to Godfall to help them understand the game better.

On top of that, Godfall will reward aggressive playstyles while also focusing on timing in order to deal max damage to enemies. In other words, staying on top of one’s target and constantly dishing out damage (while timing certain attacks) will pay off as opposed to playing slow and cautious. In addition, the game will have a looter-slasher element to it, with drops and loot being similar to Destiny and Monster Hunter.

As far as the story element goes, it has been reported that the game’s visual style and world were influenced by novel series such as The Stormlight Archive, The First Law, and Foundation. Specifically, the game takes place in a high-fantasy setting where players take the role of one of the last warriors of the Knight’s Order and are tasked with stopping an apocalyptic event. Players will also be able to choose one of three preset classes and will also have the option to play in co-op. Finally, the elements of earth, air, fire, and spirit are also going to play a big role in the narrative.

Though this is just a small bit of information, fans can expect even more details to be shared as Godfall comes closer to its release date.

Shadowlands will fix one of World of Warcraft’s biggest problems

One of the biggest problems in World of Warcraft is the way the game has stacked expansions such that new players will emerge in the world of Cataclysm, the MMO’s third expansion. After clearing Cataclysm, fans go through content from the first and second expansion, before rocketing ahead to the fifth expansion onwards. Add in removed content, quick experience gains, and an expansive fantasy world, and things get tough. Many players turn to YouTube videos and explainers from guild members or friends understand World of Warcraft’s story.

The next expansion, Shadowlands, is finally tackling this problem in a comprehensive way. While we learned some of this at BlizzCon, Blizzard released new details in a blog post in early April.

Shadowlands is bringing back tons of tools and toys to World of Warcraft classes

New players will be going to an island called Exile’s Reach. This mysterious place tells a new story, and encourages players to go through a series of trials that will teach them about their class. New heroes will learn about mechanics like how to interrupt a spell, taunt a boss, and heal a friend. These small tutorials will be specific for every class, and the zone is capped off with a two boss mini-dungeon to bring all those new lessons together into one place.

Death Knights and Demon Hunters, the two hero classes, will start with their own class-specific zones. Veteran players can choose to opt-out of Exile’s Reach, and complete the 1-10 experience in their race’s starting zone.

Once new players complete their starting zone, they will be sent to play through Battle for Azeroth’s zones; veterans can choose to level through any of the existing expansions, which will take from level 11 all the way to the Shadowlands.

When the Shadowlands alpha is available, players will be able to test the Alliance version of Exile’s Reach, as well as some content from the expansion’s leveling zones.

Why Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remaster Doesn't Have A Multiplayer Option

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is out now on PlayStation 4, but it’s only the campaign that’s received a visual upgrade. There is no multiplayer in the package.

In a blog post, Activision said it decided against releasing Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer as a standalone pack and instead favored the idea of launching additional “classic map experiences” within Modern Warfare over time.

“Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time,” the publisher said.

With the release of Modern Warfare in 2019, Activision said it started to focus on “bring[ing] players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground.” The game supports cross-play between PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while all DLC packs are free for everyone. This was all done in an effort to keep the playerbase together.

While Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer might not be getting a remaster, some of the game’s original maps are in Modern Warfare already, including the fan-favorite Rust.

The release of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered follows Modern Warfare Remastered, which was released in 2016 through premium versions of Infinite Warfare. It was later released as a standalone game, featuring both a remastered campaign and multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered launched first on PS4 thanks to a timed-exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision. The game, which was developed by Activision subsidiary Beenox, launches for Xbox One and PC on April 30.

New Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 3 Trials Announced

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 3 update is coming soon, and with it comes more Trials that you can complete to earn even more XP to help you rank up faster.

There are four new Trials in the Season 3 update, each of which pays out a whopping 10,000 XP if you can reach the 3-star ranking. Complete them all and you can earn 40,000 extra XP.

As announced on the Activision blog, the trials take place on a variety of maps, including Vacant, Hackney Yard, Piccadilly, Docks, Stack, and Euphrates Bridge, among others. As always, the challenges are varied. For example, Shooting Range requires you to locate and kill all targets as fast as you can and using as little ammo as possible. The Marksman challenge, meanwhile, asks you to take down enemies at range against the clock. You can see a full rundown of the four new Trials below.

Modern Warfare Season 3 Trials

  • Gun Course – Played on Vacant in two variations (with or without Smoke), make your way through the course as fast as possible while clearing all enemy targets and avoiding civilian casualties
  • Risky Parkour – Available on three stages, each with a unique course (Hackney Yard, Piccadilly, Gun Runner), move through each checkpoint and finish the course as fast as possible. Beware of the heavy toxic gas on low ground.
  • Shooting Range – Available on Docks (rifles) and Stack (shotgun), locate and shoot all targets in the area, quickly, while conserving ammunition.
  • Marksman Challenge – Playable on Euphrates Bridge in two variations (sniper rifle and handgun), engage waves of long-distance targets and beat the clock. Missed shots burn time.

The Season 3 update is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and you can find out exactly when it launches here. The update adds new multiplayer maps for Modern Warfare, as well as a new Quads mode for Warzone. The new Battle Pass contains a lot of new cosmetic items to unlock, including Riley the dog from Call of Duty: Ghosts, who returns with a special finishing move.

Sea of Thieves free update Ships of Fortune sets sail April 22

Rare announced during today’s episode of Inside Xbox that a free update for Sea of Thieves will be available on Xbox One and PC on April 22.

Sea of Thieves came out in 2019 for Xbox One and PC. It’s a multiplayer online game that has players teaming up in pirate crews as they hunt for treasure, explore islands, and fight enemy vessels. It’s managed to attract over 10 million players, although thanks to the subscription service Xbox Game Pass, that doesn’t mean that the game has sold 10 million copies. And people playing it through Xbox Game Pass can still make Microsoft money extra money by buying DLC.

This next update, titled Ships of Fortune, casts players as emissaries for one of the Outpost Trading Companies. This can net you rewards as you climb up your respective company’s ranks. The Reaper’s Bone have also emerged as a new company, and they are all about destroying others.

The update also brings an overhaul to the competitive Arena mode. Also, in all modes, players will now have a chance to revive fallen crew members before they die and get sent to the Ferry of the Damned.

Ships of Fortune should give Sea of Thieves fans plenty of new stuff to check out, and it could also encourage some lapsed players to don their virtual peg legs and eye patches again.

Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds New Quads Game Mode

Just in time for Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which kicks off on April 8, developer Infinity Ward has introduced a new game mode to the free-to-play battle royale experience Warzone.

The new mode is Quads, which expands your team to four players instead of the initial three Warzone launched with. You can now take a four-man team into Battle Royale and Plunder, giving you more chances to win and a better opportunity to revive. But of course, the odds will be stacked against you should you lose a member of your fireteam–or all three. Teamwork is more necessary than ever in Quads.

With the addition of Quads, you have even more ways to play Warzone. You can play with three players as Warzone intended at launch, increase your squad to four thanks to the new Quads mode, or play solo.

More additions are headed to Warzone in the coming weeks thanks to Season 3. These include changes to loot (like silenced and non-silenced variants of weapons littered throughout the map), tweaks to the playlist (such as “Scopes and Scatter Guns,” which forces players to use snipers and shotguns only), additional weapons and blueprints, and more.

Infinity Ward has finally detailed everything coming to Modern Warfare now that Season 3 is here. This includes new maps and weapons, a host of additional Operators, additional Warzone content, customization options like skins, and much more.
