Zack Snyder Has Never Watched Joss Whedon’s Justice League
Zack Snyder has never watched Joss Whedon’s Justice League on the advice of his wife and Christopher Nolan.
It is now less than a month until the world will finally get to see what 2017’s Justice League would have looked like had Zack Snyder not needed to depart the project. Snyder was replaced by Joss Whedon after the former stepped away following the death of his daughter. Whedon proceeded to alter large parts of the movie, destroying the vision Snyder had for it.
However, Snyder still doesn’t know how much of his work was undone by Warner Bros and Whedon. The director recently revealed to Vanity Fair that he has never watched Justice League. His wife Deborah Snyder and executive producer Christopher Nolan saw it before he did and told him that he can never watch it. They claimed that if he did, it would break his heart.
The fact that Snyder hasn’t even watched the finished version of Justice League wasn’t the only bombshell he dropped. The director also revealed that he is being paid absolutely nothing for his additional work to bring fans the Snyder Cut. “I didn’t want to be beholden to anyone, and it allowed me to keep my negotiating powers with these people pretty strong,” is Snyder’s reasoning for turning down a paycheque for his work.
It’s costing Warner Bros. somewhere in the region of $30 million to finish the Snyder Cut. Had the director of the project wanted anything for his work, that figure would have been even higher. A new trailer for the movie dropped a little over a week ago. It showed Jared Leto’s Joker, the one from Suicide Squad, meeting Batman.
Excitement for the Snyder Cut is reaching a fever pitch. The movie, which will apparently be close to four hours long, comes to HBO Max on March 18, 2021. It will also be coming to other services outside of the US on the same day. What has almost been a four-year-long wait for a movie many believed didn’t actually exist is almost over. Even though the Snyder Cut will likely be better than the original version of Justice League, don’t set yourself up for disappointment by getting your hopes up too high.

Josh has been gaming for as long as he can remember. That love began with a mild childhood addiction to the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive since he lives in the UK. Back then, Sonic 2 quickly became his favorite game and as you might have guessed from his picture, the franchise has remained close to his heart ever since. Nowadays, he splits his time between his PS4 and his Switch and spends far too much time playing Fortnite.
