Xbox Live status is still down despite Xbox Support saying sign-in is working

XBOX LIVE SERVER UPDATE 4 – 12.05am GMT – 30 minutes ago, Xbox Support tweeted to say "Players should once again be able to sign in and access Xbox Live services normally! Thank you for your patience and as always, we're listening."

But right now, players are still reporting problems and the Xbox Live Status page is still showing issues for Xbox Live Core services, purchase and content usage as well as website.

XBOX LIVE SERVER UPDATE 3 – 10.52pm GMT – It's possible that Xbox Live services could be returning shortly.

Though Xbox has not themselves suggested that services are starting to return to normal, a tweet from FIFA Direct Communication – a support account for all things FIFA 20 – has suggested that things might be fixed.

"We see almost full recovery on #FIFA20," the account told followers, which hopefully means all services will soon be fixed.

Stay tuned for more info.

XBOX LIVE SERVER UPDATE 2 – 10.35pm GMT – It's over one hour since the problems with Xbox Live first begun and just over an hour since Xbox Support first acknowledged the issues.

But as it stands, there's no solution in sight for the ongoing Xbox Live server issues.

In fact, in the hour that's passed, more and more users have been getting anxious at the lack of response and ongoing problems.

"Not even 2 days have gone by and this is a problem again. Why do I pay monthly for a service that’s down half the time." One user commented.

"It was a fun apocalypse until the Xbox Live servers went down" a further comment read.

A third user added, "How am I supposed to get through 2 weeks of quarantine if @Xbox Live is down?"

XBOX LIVE SERVER UPDATE 1 – 9.50pm GMT – Xbox Live is still down with connection issues and log in problems persisting for players this evening.

However the Xbox Live Status support website is now working and whilst it's not exactly good news, it does at least confirm, once again, where the service is suffering.

'Xbox Live Core services' are not working, with a message that reads "Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems signing in to Xbox Live. Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience."

Equally, Purchase and content usage is not working as it should either, which means players may also encounter problems purchasing content.

A resolution for all problems doesn't appear to be in sight.

Original Story – Xbox Live servers are down this evening as Xbox One gamers struggle to access online services across the globe.

In the last few minutes, there's been a spike of reports suggesting issues with logging into core services on Microsoft platforms.

There's also been a spike of Xbox Live reports on the Independent outage monitor Down Detector, with the majority of issues relating to connection problems.

The Down Detector outage map says the problems are mainly hitting users in the UK, Europe and across the United States. So everywhere, pretty much.

At the time of writing, there's no word on what might be wrong with the Xbox Live servers online service.

For the time being Xbox Support on Twitter (@XboxSupport) have not said what is causing the issues, but in the last few minutes have at least acknowledged that there is an issue to be fixed.

"We understand some users may be experiencing errors with sign in or matching making on Xbox Live, and are currently investigating," Xbox support told it's 1.4 million followers, before adding: "Please check back here for details."

The Xbox Status support website has also crashed, presumably under the weight of thousands of people attempting to access the url at the same time.

That being said, it's unlikely to have been updated with more details just yet, as Microsoft has only just confirmed the outage.

As you can imagine, the news and timing has not gone down well with users online.

"Xbox live is down. never again. ps5 time." wrote one unhappy gamer on Twitter.

Whilst another added "So it seems like there’s some kind of global Xbox live outage and that’s just not amazing timing."
