Weird Slow Motion "Matrix" Bug Found In Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 being a little buggy is hardly news at this point. However, what is astounding is that new glitches are still being discovered, over a year and several patches later. The latest to be documented is a strange slow-motion effect straight out of The Matrix, causing enemies to randomly slow down mid-combat.
This bug appears to be caused by the enemy crouching as they are attacked. In the video that documents the glitch, a player begins shooting an NPC, and everything plays out normally at first. However, when they're meant to drop dead, they instead rise from the ground and very slowly fall backwards – just like Neo in that one scene. Oh, and the NPC's textures had barely rendered, which is just the cherry on top.
The bug was found by Regnigsama on Reddit, and indicates that the various patches and hotfixes still haven't put an end to some of the more glaring bugs. It appears to have been found very early on in the game, as the tutorial pop-ups are still showing. OP says it's running on the Xbox Series X too, so it's not just last-gen players struggling.
Thankfully, PS5 and Series X players shouldn't have to put up with these performance issues for much longer. A next-gen patch is coming in early 2022, which unlike the game's launch, doesn't appear to have been rushed. Last-gen fans won't be completely forgotten either, as patch 1.5 is also set to go live in the first few months of next year. Both of these updates have previously been delayed, which hopefully means the higher-ups over at CD Projekt Red are listening to developers and giving them all the time they need. Unfortunately, there are no details on the previously promised DLC, but these have previously proven to be a lot smaller than fans had expected.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched December 10, 2020. It's available to play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia and PC.
