The Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha is starting later today and looks set to be very popular on PS4 and PS5.

Everyone who owns a PlayStation console can start downloading the test today, meaning you’ll be ready for when the Vanguard Alpha starts.

To download the Call of Duty Vanguard Champion Hill test today, you can find it by searching the PlayStation Store for “Call of Duty: Vanguard – Champion Hill Alpha”.

Download links can also be found on the official Call of Duty Blog, but you must pick the right region and console type.

A message from Activision adds: “Those who have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Warzone, or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War installed can access the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha through the main menu after it is downloaded.

“Within any of those released game’s menus, selecting the Alpha menu blade — to the far left of the main menu screen — either brings you to the Alpha to jump in and play if you’ve already downloaded, or redirects you to its download page on the PS Store.

“All participants will receive a Calling Card and an Emblem, accessible in Call of Duty: Vanguard upon its release – as well as Warzone following the integration of Vanguard – just for being the “tip of the spear” and participating in the Alpha.”

Activision has confirmed that the Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha start time has been scheduled 6pm BST on PS4 and PS5.

This is happening today, August 27, with the Vanguard Alpha scheduled to end on Sunday, August 29.

The Call of Duty Alpha will end at 6pm BST and will be followed by a number of beta tests, offering different content to play.

Call of Duty releases teaser trailer for Vanguard

Today’s COD Alpha is limited to PS4 and PS5 consoles, meaning it can’t be accessed on Xbox or PC platforms.

The Call of Duty Vanguard beta will be the second official test conducted by developers Sledgehammer Games and has a scheduled release date of September 10 on PlayStation platforms.

Activision is sticking to its exclusivity deals with Sony, meaning that there will be delays for gamers on Xbox and PC.

The good news is that September will include an open beta period for all platforms, which will be held between September 18 and September 20.

The open beta is set to include more content from the multiplayer section of the game but won’t offer any campaign or Zombies experiences.

Details on both of these will be shared over the coming weeks, with new trailers and reports being shared weekly.

“Players will experience the city before it was invaded in the summer of 1942,” Swenson said of the missions that take place on the Eastern Front, “giving players the chance to see and feel the beautiful city, in the summertime, untouched by war. Players will also experience the city near the end of the 6-month battle, in the winter of 1943.

“Here, players will be able to fight on the snowy landscape of the Russian winter that was so iconic in WWII.”
