Resident Evil Village Frame Rate And Resolution Info Revealed For All Platforms

Capcom released frame rate and resolution details for Resident Evil Village, although much of the news shouldn’t come as a surprise. The latest chapter of Ethan Winters’ saga will run in 4K at 60fps on PS5, Xbox Series X – although its frame rate will drop to 45 if you enable ray tracing.

A similar frame rate drop will occur on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X when set to high resolution, moving from 60fps to 30fps. The original PS4 and Xbox One won’t have the option to run in high resolution, however, and are locked at 900p.

Despite also launching on PC, Capcom did not announce specific details for the platform in the above list.

Resident Evil Village launches on May 7, but this weekend will see the arrival of a playable demo on both PS4 and PS5. The 30-minute demo will go live at 5pm PDT on April 17 and will feature the eponymous village as well as Castle Dimitrescu. Unfortunately, you’ll only have eight hours to access the short demo – in honor of Village being the eighth installment in the franchise.

All platforms will gain access to a 60-minute demo, which will be available May 1 in North America and May 2 in Europe/Asia.

Resident Evil Village was the centerpiece of this week’s Resident Evil Showcase, which included several big announcements:

  • Mercenaries Mode is coming to Village
  • Resident Evil 4 is coming to VR
  • Resident Evil Village crafting system requires you to hunt down animals
  • Resident Evil is heading to Dead By Daylight

Resident Evil Village once again follows Ethan Winters – the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 – as he tries to leave the horrors of the past behind him. To that end, he’s fled to a new location, before getting pulled back into the mayhem. Launching alongside the game is Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer title that couldn’t be more different from Village.
