Rabbids Invasion: Mission To Mars Trailer Drops Ahead Of February 18 Premiere

Looks like 2022 is going to be a big year for Rabbids fans. The chaos causing creatures are set to return to the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Plus, Ubisoft has teamed up with Netflix to release a special animated film featuring the mischievous beings next month. To get fans excited, a brand new trailer for the animated special has been released showing off the mayhem they can expect.

The Netflix film, Rabbids Invasion: Mission to Mars, will see the Rabbids infiltrate Mars as they attempt to thwart a galaxy-level threat. The official synopsis reads “they could have sent robots. Instead, they sent Rabbids. Join the unlikely team on a madcap mission to Mars where absolutely nothing goes as planned.” The trailer shows the absolute chaos that sending these creatures to Mars will create. It looks like a fun watch to keep fans satisfied until Sparks of Hope launches for Switch later this year. The film will debut on Netflix on February 18.

If you can't wait for February 18, Netflix is also streaming a season of Rabbids Invasion. This animated series follows the eponymous characters as they invade Earth and embark on madcap adventures in their trusty yellow submarine. Produced in France, the rest of the series has yet to make it to an American streaming service.

Netflix isn’t the only place gearing up for an invasion. Back in 2019, it was announced that Ubisoft and Lionsgate would be teaming up to bring the Rabbids to the big screen. While no further information has been revealed, likely due to the ensuing pandemic that halted a lot of productions and projects, the film still appears to be planned. It is rumored that Todd Strauss-Schulson is being eyed for the role of director with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman set as producers.

While 2017’s Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle thrust the Rabbids into the spotlight, the Minionesque characters have been around for quite some time. After popping up as a spin-off from the Rayman series, the Rabbids went on to star in several titles. Plus, they popped up in a bunch of other gaming properties like Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Just Dance, and more. This Netflix film is just another way the slightly annoying characters are taking over the world.
