Pokémon Sword & Shield Max Raid Battles Add Gigantamax Machamp, Gengar, And Snorlax
Gigantamax Machamp, Gengar, and Snorlax are now appearing more often in Pokémon Sword & Shield‘s Max Raid Battles.
Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword & Shield allow players to catch really powerful Pokémon, as well as net themselves some handy items like Rare Candy or Exp. Candy as a result. On rare occasions though, players will be lucky enough to come across a Max Raid Battle that features a Gigantamax Pokémon, which have special G-moves with a unique effect when Dynamaxed.
Pokémon Sword & Shield now have a higher chance of encountering a Gigantamax Machamp, Gengar, and Snorlax. These Pokémon will effectively replace the previous ones that were Gigantamax — Toxtricity, Grimmsnarl, Hatteren, Kingler, and Orbeetle. Due to the rotation, this presents a really useful opportunity for players to farm up some Max Raid Battle rewards and complete their Pokédex.
One important aspect that is worth mentioning is that the current Max Raid Battles provide a useful shortcut for players looking to get a Machamp or Gengar in general. Normally, the only way to get the two Pokémon is to trade with another player or with a friend. Trading Machoke will cause the Pokémon to immediately evolve into Machamp, while trading Haunter will cause it to evolve into Gengar, respectively. Although Gengar and Machamp do tend to roam the Wild Area, the chances of encountering either Pokémon are slim. Ultimately, the Max Raid Battles are certain to be of help.
As for Gigantamax Snorlax, it was available earlier this year before be being moved from the rotation. Now, the new Max Raid Battle event provides a superb opportunity for those who missed out on catching the Gen 1 Pokémon.
The current Max Raid Battle rotation is live and will last until midnight UTC on March 25, 2020.
