New Animal Crossing: New Horizons TV ad is a bit of a tear-jerker

Nintendo’s current plans for Animal Crossing: New Horizons include next month’s Christmas event and something Mardi Gras related in 2021.

It’s not exactly Christmas-themed, but Nintendo’s new advert for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is bound to tug at the heartstrings anyway.

Centred around a young girl who has to move home, her friends bid a tearful goodbye, but gift her a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a farewell present.

With the game, the group can remain in touch; a feeling that most, if not all, of New Horizons’ player-base can relate to.

The current climate has made it near impossible for friends to meet up and socialise, but New Horizons has allowed many people to remain social by visiting each other’s islands and taking part in celebrations.

Recently, the game held Turkey Day (its Thanksgiving equivalent) and with it being Christmas next month, players can look forward to Toy Day on Christmas Eve.

Nintendo isn’t slowing down once 2020 ends either. The most recent trailer teases a new event as part of an update in late January.

It’s more than likely to do with the Festivale event (Animal Crossing’s equivalent of Mardi Gras) as it teases an appearance by Pavé, the fabulous peacock, who hosted the event in previous games.

And then in March, as part of the Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary celebrations, the game will receive Mario-themed furniture.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
