Mrs. Zurkon Is The Shopkeeper In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

After fighting a gigantic, tyrannical Mrs. Zurkon in Ratchet & Clank (2016), she’s back as a rebel insurgent selling weapons on the street – in our case, that’s to Rivet and Ratchet who, as seen in the State of Play, share their currency and inventory.

That’s a touch strange, but Ms. Zurkon simply says that Ratchet’s their “mutual friend.” That implies that the two have met, but it could be her underhanded way of saying that she knows that they’re just alternate versions of each other, something that hasn’t yet been confirmed. Maybe shop inventories and bank accounts are DNA-based. Whatever the case, you won’t have to scrounge for bolts with two different characters.

Mrs. Zurkon has never been a shopkeeper in the games before, but the role has bounced around plenty in prior entries. Although, Mrs. Zurkon selling little Zurkons to aid and abet Ratchet and Rivet in their journey to stop Nefarious is a bit strange. Nonetheless, she’s here to aid us, and will no doubt be a ton of fun to Groovitron all over again. Only, this time, we’re not gonna barrage her with rocket fire while she does a jig.

Mrs. Zurkon did appear before the 2016 game, though, in the last PS3 entry, Into the Nexus. There, she was an ally, a part of the Zurkon Family weapon. The same model was used, albeit enlarged, for the boss fight in the 2016 reboot, while in Rift Apart, it appears as though she has an entirely new look.

Mr. Zurkon, meanwhile, first appeared in Tools of Destruction and has been a staple of the series ever since. Hopefully, we don’t have to fight any more of their ilk, because they’re quite a pain, hence why they’re so effective on our side as Ratchet & Clank or, in this case, as Rivet & Clank.
