Microsoft’s most recent first-party exclusives have been a little hit and miss, with Gears 5 and Forza leading the way. However, the Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox release date is happening in the next 24-hours, and it looks to be one of the most ambitious yet.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is definitely one of the company’s better launches in recent years and has proven a fan-favourite on PC.
As the name suggests, MFS 2020 offers several flight simulator programs that allow enthusiasts to take the helm of a huge range of planes across a number of detailed maps and terrains.
The immersion of the whole experience is a massive draw for simulator buffs, and Microsoft have also included an interesting amount of content for Xbox gamers to try out, telling fans this week:
“Console pilots jumping into Microsoft Flight Simulator for the first time will be treated to a massive amount of readily available content on day one.
“After a year full of World Updates with enhanced 3D photogrammetry on real-world locations like Japan, the Nordics, and the United Kingdom, along with some free and paid DLC (some that remain PC only for now), there’s almost so much good stuff that it’s hard to know where to start.
“Beyond that, you also have all the existing Activities returning to deliver some great pre-planned scenarios for you to try.
Landing Challenges are not for the faint of heart, delivering an incredible challenge that will cut your piloting teeth while asking yourself, “Did they seriously build an airport there?!”
“I still can’t believe I managed to land an A320 at Paro International Airport, albeit with a C grade.

The good news is that MFS is also coming out on Xbox Game Pass for both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
And Microsoft has confirmed that the game will be available to download and play at the same time, no matter how you’ve purchased it.
This means that if you’re using Xbox Game Pass, you shouldn’t have to wait longer than 4pm BST.
A message from Microsoft explains: “Microsoft Flight Simulator drops July 27th at 8 am PDT on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass. Pre-download is available now.
“It’s going to be great re-experiencing this simulator all over again on console, on a large 4K screen and from the comfort of my sofa.”
