Keanu Reeves Thinks It’s "Nice" That People Want To Do The Nasty With Johnny Silverhand
There are only three certainties in this life of ours: death, taxes, and rule 34. In the past, this was a fairly uncontroversial subject, but as more and more real-life actors lend their likeness to game characters, it does create several ethical questions regarding the creation of, uh, suggestive fanart.
Thankfully for Cyberpunk 2077 fans, there's one character they can lewd away with the actor's consent: Johnny Silverhand. In a recent interview, Keanu Reeves was asked how he feels about fans hacking the game to have sex with his character. Reeves responded with an enthusiastic "yes!", and commented that it's "nice" that fans are that enthusiastic about his performance.
"It's always nice when it's nice, you know", said Reeves. "It was affection", the interviewer interjects, to which the actor happily agrees. Carrie-Anne Moss was quick to go on the record that she says "no thank you" to this practice.
Reeves went on with the line of thought, completely undeterred: "Think of how much money is in porn, right? You could not even have to be there and people could have digital sex with your digital avatar". There you go, SFM porn enthusiasts. That's a ringing endorsement if I've ever seen one.
Unfortunately for Cyberpunk, this is about the only news it will make today. Despite being nominated in two categories at The Game Awards, it failed to take home any trophies. This is a bitter end to one of the most anticipated titles in recent history, which was largely seen as a shoo-in for the big Game of the Year award.
That honour, however, went to It Takes Two, a surprise hit from March of this year. Other nominees included Resident Evil Village, Metroid Dread, and Psychonauts 2 – so Cyberpunk wasn't even in the running. It's a bittersweet way to mark the game's one year anniversary today, but at least it made the news for something: people really want to shag Johnny. Take your wins where you can, I guess.
