Planning on jumping in for a quick game of Battle Royale tonight? You’d better make sure you know the Fortnite downtime schedule.

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite servers will be down for a short period on August 17 to make for a new update.

Fortnite downtime is expected to last several hours and includes a download for gamers to install at the end.

This week’s Season 7 patch will be a little larger in scope than August’s 17.30 update; however, it probably won’t include a big World Concert event.

Instead, Fortnite update 17.40 is expected to bring a new wave of content to the game, starting with weaponry.

It hasn’t been completely confirmed, but recent news from data miners suggests that the Exotic Burst Pulse Rifle is coming to Fortnite very soon.

This could be included in today’s patch, alongside the continuation of the current Fortnite Season 7 storyline.

More areas of the map are expected to change, with various POIs disappearing, culminating in a big reveal during Season 8.

Coral Castle could be the next place to disappear but ultimately, it will be up to Epic Games to confirm what is planned.

WHEN IS FORTNITE DOWNTIME FOR UPDATE 17.21 STARTING?

The Fortnite server downtime scheduled for today has been set to start at 9:00am BST on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

For gamers in the United States, this will mean maintenance starting at 04:00am EDT on the same day.

No one should be left waiting for the servers to come back as all platforms will return online at the same time.

It should also be noted that servers will start going offline thirty minutes beforehand, meaning you should finish games before 8:30am BST.

And while Epic Games has not provided an exact time servers will be back online, they have confirmed how long it could last.

According to the support team, today’s Fortnite downtime could last up to four hours, with most maintenance periods ending before the estimated downtime.

If it doesn’t, it would mean servers would be down until around 1pm BST on Tuesday, August 17.

A message from Epic Games adds: “Grab your Coral Buddy. v17.40 rises up on August 17!

“In preparation for the update, downtime will begin at approx. 04:00 AM ET. Matchmaking will be disabled approx. 30 minutes before.”

Epic Games has also confirmed that a new skin will be making its debut after this latest update has been deployed.

Wonder Woman will be coming to the Battle Royale island via the item shop and a new cup being held later this week.

Epic Games told fans the details today, explaining: You can purchase Wonder Woman (with her Armored variant) in the Item Shop on August 19, 2021 at 8pm ET. Deck out your entire locker with her set that includes the Golden Eagle Wings Glider, Athena’s Battleaxe, DC Trinity Loading Screen, and Diana’s Mantle Back Bling that comes in two variants.

“Grab a friend and compete in the Wonder Woman Cup on August 18, 2021 for the opportunity to earn the Wonder Woman Outfit and Diana’s Mantle Back Bling before it hits the Item Shop.

“You and your partner will have three hours to complete up to 10 matches and earn as many points as possible. The top performing teams in each region will receive the Wonder Woman Outfit and Diana’s Mantle Back Bling. Any team that earns eight points or more will also receive the Honorary Amazons Loading Screen.”
