The Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris PvP event begins today, and Guardians will expect to drop into a fresh map at around 6pm BST.

Bungie has in the past delayed or cancelled the Trials at late notice due to other PvP events going on.

But if everything continues by the regular schedule, groups of three will be taking on other fireteams to try and score the best loot.

Bungie has not shared any plans to run an experimental version of the Trials this week, meaning the normal should be running like normal.

The recent changes to the PvP event has seen several tweaks made to how loot is acquired and earned.

Trials now boast a seven-win challenge, which will be available from Saint-14, and provides the Adept Flawless loot.

Reputation gain per match has been scaled by the number of round wins on a ticket, and Trials passages are now account scoped.

As an example, these are some of the rewards and loot packages available last month:

  • Reputation Rank 4 – Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7 – Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Flawless Reward – Eye of Sol Legendary Adept Sniper Rifle.

The last Flawless Reward offered by Bungie was th Eye of Sol Adept Sniper Rifle, which will be replaced by a new weapon today.

Bungie has also confirmed that they have reduced the round time to 90 seconds, with each round starting with fresh special ammo.

Cross-Play must be enabled to participate in Trials of Osiris, which also requires the purchase of the current yearly expansion.

No further changes have been announced regarding Trials of Osiris, although there could be further matchmaking tweaks made to Flawless matches.

An earlier message from Bungie reveals: “We tested out separating off flawless players (and their fireteams) from players who hadn’t yet gone flawless that week.

“Before we discuss what to expect this week (and in the future) we’d like to talk about the goals we have for matchmaking in Trials of Osiris and look at some key data points for the first two weeks.

“Solo players are a key to the entire system working. For example, in our first week, a whopping 54% were full fireteams vs. solos/duos. Cut to this week, where only 45% were fireteams vs. solos/duos — a pretty sharp drop.

“To get enough solo players in, we need to offer rewards that are good enough and matchmaking that feels reasonable regardless of skill level.

“Right now, we have engrams that you can grind for, as well as attractive seven-win rewards, but only if you win.”
