Cyberpunk’s Viktor Is Now A Multi-Billionaire, Thanks To Players Actually Paying Off Their Debt
In Cyberpunk 2077, it’s not at all mandatory to pay back the money you owe Viktor. At the very start of the game, he installs some new, top of the range enhancements for V, saying you can pay him back later. While the side job “Paid in Full” will stay active until you complete it, there’s no actual ramifications for betraying his kindness – and no real reward for being true to your word, and coming back with the 21,000 eddies.
However, it turns out that being a good friend is the only motivator that many players need. As revealed by the Cyberpunk twitter account, Viktor now has a whooping 147,000,000,000 eurodollars to his name, thanks to players actually taking time away from their mission to save their life, and pay him back for his kindness.
That amount is far too much to comprehend. As the twitter account highlights, that’s enough for Viktor to purchase 12,250,000,000 in-game burritos – but that’s just another mind-bogglingly high number. Assuming for a moment that eurodollars have a similar change rate with United States dollars (please ignore dystopia-induced inflation for a second), this would make Viktor the third richest person in the world, just sitting behind Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. To make better sense of how much this is, try out the browser game where you have to spend all of Elon Musk’s money in 30 seconds – 500 Falcon 9 launches and 550 private jets later, you still haven’t scratched the surface of this fortune.
Looking at player stats, we can build up a clearer image of what the average Cyberpunk playthrough looks like. Going based off Steam achievements, the least popular ending is giving Johnny Silverhand control of V’s body, with most players instead opting to run away with the Nomads. That puts staying in Night City in second place, but nowhere near as popular as taking your chances on the road.
Cyberpunk 2077 released December 10, 2020. It is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, and PC.
