Call of Duty Warzone: Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode may drop today
UPDATE – Call of Duty Modern Warfare updates typically drop at around 5pm GMT every day, so if we are to get the games new Battle Royale mode, Warzone, it could arrive then. So stay tuned for more details in the coming hours. At the time of writing the only confirmed changes to the game are several playlist changes – Gunfight Trios returns, 1v1 Rust – and some updated store bundles. Hopefully, this won't be all the changes Infinity Ward have planned.
Original Story – Call of Duty Modern Warfare players has been patiently waiting for the release of the games highly-anticipated new mode, Warzone.
This new Battle Royale take on the insanely popular Modern Warfare multiplayer might propel the game to dizzy new heights having already enjoyed a wildly successful launch so far.
But the problem is, no one is all that sure when Activision actually plans on launching this bold new game mode.
Despite a large majority of the games core details having leaked already since the launch of Season 2, we're yet to be told when the update will actually release.
A report by Video Games Chronicle, released 17 February, previously suggested that the mode was “at least a few weeks away” and would most likely release "in early March".
And shortly thereafter, the site's editor-in-chief, Andy Robinson noted that a variety of influencers appeared to be in Los Angeles, wearing Activision wristbands.
From personal experience, we can tell you that Activision almost always hosts reveal events in LA.
So it certainly seems like a variety of YouTubers and personalities have got an early look at the mode with a view to publishing impressions sometime soon.
More recently, a rumour suggested that the game mode might launch on March 3rd. That's tomorrow for anyone without a calendar next to them.
That particular rumour was linked to a discovery following last week's in-game update.
Players had noticed that on the new Bazaar map, there appeared to be a new blank map with the date 03/03 featured underneath added to the game (seen below).
Is this likely to be a hint at the possible release date for Call of Duty Warzone?
It's possible. We certainly wouldn't rule out an in-game teaser to keep fans engaged.
That said, VGC's Robinson has also suggested that this isn't the release date based on what he has heard.
Another 'clue' appeared to be a movie poster within the Picaddily Circus map for a fictional game called Warbeast, released March 3rd.
Noted Call of Duty leaker, TheGamingRevolution has suggested that the free-to-play mode will most likely arrive on March 10th.
Right now, there's no hard and fast way to know and until Activision talks about one of the biggest well-known secrets in gaming right now.
