Atomic Heart has got some more in-engine footage this week, and it looks amazing

Last year, Atomic Heart was formally announced by developer Mundfish and it succeeded in very quickly grabbing our attention.

The game looks set to really shake-up the first-person shooter genre – seemingly inspired by the likes of BioShock, Metro 2033, System Shock and STALKER in equal parts, whilst also maintaining a lot of its own identity.

The game is not only gorgeous to look at but seems to have some really fresh ideas when it comes to the first-person genre, too.

The game has been quite quiet for a while – no E3 drops, no summer announcements, no new information.

That is… until this week.

By the developer's own admission, the game is classed as an 'adventure' first-person shooter, set during "an alternate universe during the high noon of the Soviet Union."

The game will take you through a variety of different levels, having you fight what seems like decaying humans, horribly macabre machines, and failing machinations of a psychedelic Soviet empire.

"The main character of the game is a special agent, who was sent to a highly secret object by the Soviet government after it went radio silent" says a blurb about the game.

"A Soviet setting with a pitch of insanity, action-packed gameplay and a thrilling story will keep you entertained for the whole duration of your journey into the world of Atomic Heart."

Originally, the game was slated to launch in 2019, but we've not heard anything about it for a while – expect that to slip when we hear more.
