Fortnitemares' 2020 Halloween Event Brings Back Midas And Lets You Possess Vehicles
Fortnite’s latest patch has gone live, and in addition to substantially shrinking the size of the game, it also kicks off a new version of its annual Halloween event. Fortnitemares 2020: Midas’ Revenge dresses up the battle royale for the spooky season and allows for players who have been defeated in Solo, Duos, or Squads mode to be resurrected as a deadly Shadow.
As one of these beings, players are enhanced with supernatural abilities and can even possess vehicles as they hunt down the remaining competitors who still have a pulse. Players can fight back with new items like the Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, Fiend Hunter Crossbow, and Witch Brooms.
Fortnitemares 2020 will run from October 21 to November 3, and there’ll be plenty of rewards to collect and challenges to complete. Some of the special rewards include Midas’ Shadow Wrap, the Smash O’Lantern Pickaxe, Bobo Back Bling, and more.

The new Party Trooper Outfit will also be available from November 1 and fans of the Colombian singer J Balvin can earn a free costume when the Prince of Reggaeton performs a concert in Fortnite. Balvin’s Afterlife Party begins at the Main Stage in Party Royale on October 31 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET and will see the debut of a new song.
For those Fortnite players who’d prefer to spend their time on a scavenger hunt, digits of a code that unlocks the Wrath’s Wrath Wrap will be hidden on four Fortnitemares-inspired featured islands. A new island will be unlocked every day through to October 24, and you’ll have until October 27 to redeem the code and earn the new weapon cosmetic.
Fortnite will be making the next-gen transition to Xbox Series X and Series S as well as the PS5, when those consoles launch. Back in September Epic Games showed how Fortnite runs on the PS5, revealing a big upgrade from the PS4 version. There’ll be another substantial upgrade in 2021 when Epic adds Unreal Engine 5 support to the game.
