The LEC Spring Playoffs matches are set, battle begins next Friday

The league play phase of the LEC Spring Season has come to an end and the pairings for the playoffs have been drawn. On Apr. 4, the six best teams of the split will start the race to the Spring Finals scheduled for Apr. 19.

After four weeks of undefeated matches, G2 Esports took the #1 seed with a 15-3 record, edging out Fnatic and Origen at second and third place, respectively. At 11-7, MAD Lions took the fourth and final spot in the upper bracket, leaving Misfits and Rogue at 5th and 6th place and who will have to start their playoffs run in the lower bracket.

The LEC playoffs will start Apr. 4 with G2 versus MAD. The league play record between the two is 1-1, but G2 come in as the heavy favorites and on a monstrous eight-game win streak. Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and Luka “PerkZ” Perković have been excellent for the “samurai” all season, with G2’s jungler a heavy favorite for the regular season MVP title.

In the other upper-bracket match, Fnatic will face Origen in a rematch from the 2019 Spring Playoffs lower bracket final, which Origen then won 3-1. The two teams are tied 1-1 this season, however, and fans should expect a close match-up.

If the last weeks of the regular season are any indication, G2 are the heavy favorites to take third consecutive LEC title and seventh in franchise history. The best-of-5 format ensures that the “samurai” don’t drop the occasional best-of-1 loss and are an even scarier team to face on the Rift.
