The LCK to return in an online format on March 25

After going on a three-week hiatus due to the coronavirus outbreak, the LCK is set to return on March 25. In February, the LCK stopped live audiences from attending games as a preventative measure. They also made sure that media personnel and players had face masks and other necessary tools needed for precautionary measures. However, in early March, South Korea saw an increase in the spread of the virus. Riot Games then announced the temporary shut down of the LCK in line with recommended health guidelines.

What’s new about the LCK Round 2

Via a Facebook post, the league announced that Round 2 of the LCK will be played in an online format. To make up for the three weeks lost, games will be played five days a week with up to three games per day. The LCK will still be a best-of-three series with little room for breaks between each match. On days where three games are played, the first game will start at 3 pm KST. Meanwhile, on the days where only two games are played, the best-of-three series will start at 5 pm KST.

<2020 LCK Spring comes back on March 25th (Match schedule updated!>

The long-awaited 2020 LCK Spring will finally resume online, starting March 25th.

Due to the break LCK had over the past 19 days, the league schedule will be compressed, playing five days a week, up to three games per day. All matches will be Bo3. On a 3-match day, the first match will start at 15:00 while on a 2-match day, the first match will start at 17:00. Following matches of the day will begin soon after the previous match ends, instead of waiting until the designated time.

The match-up schedule was redrawn to avoid situations where certain teams have to play more than one match a day, or 2,3 days in a row. The match-up schedule can be found on this posting.

The regular season of 2020 LCK Spring ends at April 16th. Details around the playoffs and the finals will be announced when they are finalized.

All matches will be broadcast via LCK’s official channels – Twitch, Youtube, Naver, AfreecaTV, SBS-Afreeca, Wavve, Jump VR, LG U+ Game Live

A new schedule has also been released to avoid teams playing multiple matches on a single day or playing games for several days in a row. The 2020 LCK Spring will end on April 16. The dates for playoffs and finals are yet to be determined and fans will be updated as the league continues.

Before the LCK hiatus, Gen.G topped the table with eight wins and just one loss. T1 and DragonX were tied for second place with a 7-2 record. Griffin will hope that their roster profited from the break, as they currently sit at the bottom of the table along with APK Prince and Sandbox. Meanwhile, Dragon X and T1 will look to overthrow Gen.G in a fight for the top spot.
