Na'Vi destroy G2 3-0 in IEM Katowice finals, s1mple MVP
The domination we saw in Natus Vincere’s semifinal match against Astralis didn’t waiver in the grand finals as Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s side cruised to a 3-0 victory against G2 Esports.
It was a team effort as even Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov broke his personal rating record and dominated map one with a +21 kill-to-death differential and an absolutely ridiculous average damage per round of 161.7. Joined in the 100 ADR category by s1mple who held a +11 and 105.8, Na’Vi crushed G2 in map one 16-4.
G2 got off to an early lead on Dust2 and it looked like they were returning the favor for map one, however, after a 7-2 lead, Na’Vi won six rounds to be down 8-7 at the half. Na’Vi would take five of the first six rounds in the second half before G2 would mount their comeback with five of their own. Ultimately it would be Na’vi to grab the final three and take the map 16-13 to go up 2-0 in the series.
If you thought map one was bad, map three was worse. This time it was Egor “flamie” Vasilyev who led the charge with a +15 record and 114.3 ADR, although nobody on the team was worse than a +2. Throughout the 16-2 victory, s1mple only died two times for a record of 14-2.
This new Na’Vi lineup has hit their stride and it’s a scary one. G2 had a strong event overall, surprising many, but against the monster version of Na’Vi they looked far out of their depth.
s1mple claimed the IEM Katowice 2020 MVP medal and Na’Vi have joined the Intel Grand Slam S3 race as one of six teams with one point.
