LA Major cancelled: Reports suggest ESL One LA has been called off after USA issued a travel suspension from Europe

The spread of the Covid-19 virus (or coronavirus, as it is more commonly being called) has brought a lot of things to halt and amongst those, will be the ESL One Los Angeles Major, the third DPC Major of the 2019-2020 season. Esports consultant Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau put up a tweet saying his sources have confirmed the cancellation of the ESL One LA Major and that all teams and casters have been notified accordingly by Valve and ESL.

Slasher also mentioned the reason behind the late cancellation, with just four days left for the Major to start. The US government’s recent decision to cancel travel from Europe to the USA was what prompted this action. Initially, it was going to be a closed door event with no live audience. With the travel restrictions imposed, it had to be taken a step further.

The spread of the coronavirus has been in the news all over the world. The World Health Organization officially recognized the disease as a pandemic a few days ago. US president Donald Trump addressed the nation on the issue and laid out his reasons for taking the strong step of banning travel from European countries to the United States.

This is There has been no official statement from Valve or ESL on the issue, but one can be expected in the next few hours. With the cancellation of a Major, the looming question is, will it be replaced by another Major or will there just be four this year? Also, will the DPC points from the Kyiv Minor be wiped out or will Aster’s win here directly qualify them for the next Major?
