FLASHPOINT scrambling for FunPlus Phoenix replacement amid roster drama
FLASHPOINT is in need of a new team to join the league it seems as HLTV reports they’re on the hunt. This comes following the news that FunPlus Phoenix’s deal with Heroic for their roster was in jeopardy.
It’s now been confirmed that Patrick “es3tag” Hansen will be joining Astralis as of July 1, 2020 which has apparently left FPX wanting nothing more to do with the situation.
The organization has deleted all its tweets regarding the pickup of the team and now Casper “cadiaN” Møller has revealed he’s gone back to Denmark. This was after he explained how he felt “gutted” by the situation in a video posted to Twitter.
Phase 2 of FLASHPOINT is set to start on Friday which leaves the league scrambling to find a team to replace the Danish side with short notice.
The 12 participating teams will be separated into three groups where they’ll play in a double-elimination bracket made up completely of best-of-threes.
As of now, there’s been no official word from Heroic or FPX regarding the deals complete dissolving, but it’s not looking likely in the slightest.
es3tag was set to join Astralis only in July due to a hefty $800,000 price tag given to him by Heroic for the remaining three months.
