Faker becomes the first player to score 2000 kills in the LCK

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok made LCK history once again. T1’s mid laner scored its 2000th kill in the LCK in the second game against Afreeca Freecs on Thursday, March 5.

Before the series began, Faker needed just 12 more kills to achieve the milestone, and pitch perfect Orianna play in game 1 got him much closer, scoring nine of his team’s 22 kills. In game 2, however, T1 found themselves under heavy pressure from Afreeca, with the famous mid laner struggling to find picks with his Zoe.

But even in the face of defeat, Faker found a way to cross the threshold and picked up four kills before T1’s Nexus fell, forcing game 3.

The achievement puts Faker in the very exclusive club, whose members are only him and Royal Never Give Up’s Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. Playing in the much more aggressive LPL, Uzi got to his own 2000 kills in April 2018, and by August 2019 he even crossed the 2500 kills mark.

Even if T1 win the third game and the series against Afreeca, however, they will end the first half of the Spring Split in second place. Gen.G’s 2-0 win over SANDBOX earlier today ensured a better tiebreaker score.
